Features Lounge

Is it ever okay to gyrate in front of Louis Walsh wearing a fishnet body stocking?

Let's just be clear about this one folks....the answer here is always going to be "Hell to the no!"

Yes, The X-Factor is officially back for 2012 and what a thong and dance this weekends show was.

Despite unearthing some cracking talent in the form of the amazing Christopher Maloney (where have you been hiding?) and mini Adele, Amy Mottram, the show was blighted by the return of former Britain's Got Talent wannabe Lorna Bliss, whose own cracking talent left a lot to be desired!
Don't get me wrong, the girl's looking fab for over thirty and she's got the Britney Spears look down to the last red PVC catsuit, but Tulisa was spot on when she said that Miss Bliss is simply all about the game, and sadly she's not the only one.

What with the likes of TOWIE and Made In Chelsea, the celebrity circuit is becoming overrun by people who are famous for doing.....well.... not very much. Yes it makes addictive viewing, but it also overshadows those who truly have a talent to offer the world, as well as sending out the wrong message to the innocent minds of young boys and girls searching for role models. The 'can't be arsed' attitude that so many kids have today is a product of seeing others doing well simply by whining about their nails and getting their baps out for the camera. Why should they seek to do well at school and learn their craft when the quicker way to the top is to simply land a part in Big Brother and bitch about ten other people for a month?

It's a sorry state of affairs, particularly when you scroll through the pages of You Tube and spot so many truly talented singers that just can't get that big break.

I hope Lorna does well at whatever it is that she wants to do, but for now I'm glad that she didn't get through....leave the places in the singing competition for those that can actually sing.

Here's my favourite contestant of the week.....
