Is it just me or...........?
Is it just me or is it starting to become acceptable to be rude to other people? Not me myself per say, but, well....others to me. Do I just have 'Easy Target' written across my forehead? Over the last six months I have received numerous comments about my weight ( FFS ....I'm a size 12, always have been always will be.....I've got a long way to go before fire crews are going to have to whip out their chainsaws to cut me out of my house!) and just today one of my customers dared to inform me that my job was not a proper one!
Really.....do you think I go there for FUN!? I work in a bar - one of three jobs that I have at the moment - (out of necessity more than anything, whilst I keep on hunting for my dream job, penning application forms like there's no tomorrow), Okay it's not the career that I set my heart on, I won't do it forever and it certainly doesn't pay well, but in a country where so many people throw in the towel and pocket their dole money on a weekly basis, how very dare anyone belittle my role simply because they believe that it's beneath them.....someone has to do it!
It seems to me that I'm not the only target either. Remember Jessie of Little Mix fame? How she was hounded by the press because she was slightly larger (read: NORMAL!) than the rest of her band mates? And just don't get me started on the 'Ring of Truth' sections in wannabe glossies that highlight the cellulite and dodgy tits of celebs from here to Hollywood.
When are people going to get the message that you can do serious damage to a person with snide comments. Anorexia, Bulimia, Depression....HELLO!
I think we should join forces and start a campaign - "Keep it Zipped...." i.e let's all follow that old proverb your mother always used to say - "If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all!"
