Who run the world....Girls.

Apologies for the lack of activity on the blog of late, I’ve been out in Kenya taking part in a charity challenge for Women V Cancer. You can read about my adventure at http://vwcyclekenya.blogspot.com/.
Apart from raising over £1 million for Breast, Cervical and Ovarian Cancer trusts, the expedition taught me a great deal about female solidarity. In a world where women are often tarred with the bitch brush and celebrity cat fights have been well documented between the likes of Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, Cheryl Cole and Lily Allen and Angelina and Jennifer Aniston, it’s easy for people to forget sometimes that when women unite they can actually become quite a force to be reckoned with.
I travelled with a group of a hundred women who I barely knew and never once felt lonely. When the challenge got tough we supported each other and helped each other take baby steps to the finish line. We congratulated each other, cried with each other and laughed the whole way through.
This solidarity thing isn’t something new though, not by a long shot, but it is something that is becoming more and more apparent in the press these days, which is good to see.
Women V Cancer challenges are popping up everywhere, celebrities are starting to realise that by working together they can achieve so much more than working against each other – take Kelly Rowland’s comments on last years X-Factor, when she stated that the other members of Destiny’s Child were like sisters to her - and women’s glossies everywhere are celebrating friendship, hailing it as part of the new wave of feminism.
The challenge I completed just proved how strong women can be and what a difference they can make to the world. Tell your girls how much they mean to you today and become a part of something special.
