Okay, so, originally I signed up for the Bupa Great Birmingham half marathon to run for Marie Curie Cancer Care. However, I hadn't heard from them since sending off my application and so decided to ring them today. It seems my application got lost in the post and unfortunately there are no longer any places to run for this charity.
I like to think I'm not one to give up and so I clicked onto the official run website. As it turns out there are plenty of other worthwhile causes looking for runners and so I have now signed up to take part for Macmillan Cancer Care.
Our family has been greatly affected by various cancers (whether it has been affected directly or through friends of the family suffering), and therefore this cause has always been close to my heart. The Macmillan nurses have provided first rate care over the years not only to us, but to millions worldwide and so I'm pretty glad that this charity still had openings.
Maybe it was just meant to be?
In any case, I will put details up about sponsorship as soon as I get them (should be 14 days) and if you would like to donate or take part in fundraising events for either of the charities themselves, then do not hesitate to check out either:
